Richard James Rivera (RJ), creator of Collections by RJ has been interested in fashion and designing as far back as he remembers. It has been a passion of his to create and design clothes as he  visualizes the beauty that surrounds him and creates his own ideas from there.

  After many years working in the industry his dream of becoming a designer became a reality in 2006 when he created RJ Jeans a new line of industrial denim jeans for men with a black wash over a white wash style. RJ began promoting his jeans and creating more, such as t-shirts and a few outfits for women. While working with other designers around the San Francisco Bay Area he networked his way into the San Francisco fashion scene. He worked in many local fashion shows and has also started to venture out of the Bay Area to showcase some of his newest collections.

  RJ worked hard to promote himself and his collections. He stuck by his Latin roots and it has helped him to become more noticed, as RJ Latino and RJ Latina, two collections of men's wear and women's wear with a Latin vibe, have taken off throughout the industry, as well as in the Latino community. “Latinos are a family and that’s what’s brought me to this point in life. The strong support of my family, the desire to make something of myself and to make my family proud is what keeps me going every day. I feel it’s my duty in life to somehow give back as a way of thanking my family for giving me the opportunity to have a better life and in this way I feel I can proudly give back.”

   Although Collections by RJ strongly features a Latin influence, there are other styles of clothing and collections beyond the Latin flare such as RJ Tini, RJ's take on the cocktail dress, RJ Dark Glam, a mix of light goth style with a splash of rock and color, and RJ's wedding gowns. There is a little something for everyone with his many collectons.

   Currently RJ is working on revamping some of his collections such as RJ Latino and RJ Tini, as well as his newest collections RJ Vintage Glam, RJ Sol and creating more of a couture look and style for his newest collection he has been promoting called Mysteria.

   There is a lot more in store for Collections by RJ. Many changes have already begun and there are many more collections to be created, many more designs to become reality and many more of RJ’s dreams to come true.
